Student Experiences > STORY

Catherine Asia

I didn’t even think of studying because of my age and because I have a family that I have to provide for. The Communiversity of South Africa opened my eyes to a whole new world of possibilities… They motivated me and brought the best of myself out that not even I knew was inside of me. The Communiversity showed me that I can become one of the top students, and I thought it would not be possible, because I had been out of school more than 15 years already. I became more confident and more open to communicate.

The facilitators really motivate us and bring the best out of us. They never say that you cannot do this, that or the other. They always say that you can do anything and everything that you put your mind to and work for it. Perseverance is key.

I can really say that I am actually living my life for the very first time. I was accepted at False Bay College with a bursary. I am very excited to be going into my new career — working with children. The best thing is that my husband and two children are supporting me and tell me to pursue my dreams and become the best in this career because they know that is my passion.
